Manufacturing Process

We decided to provide some information about the CD/DVD manufacturing process for those who are interested.

     
1. Polycarbonate Drying
Plastic used for CD is completely
dried
  2. Injection Moulding
Plastic is moulded into the suitable
shape with heat
  3. Cooling Station
Moulded plastic is cooled
  4. Dye Coating
The dye (usually cyanine) is coated
on the plastic
 
     
5. Lot Printing
The barcode of the CD is printed
  6. In Line Drying
The drying of the printed barcode is
assisted with heat, and the dye is
allowed to slighty dry
  7. Sputtering
The reflective layer is added
  8. Lacquer Coating
First protective coat of laquer is
sprayed onto the reflective layer
 
       
9. Scanner
Scans each CD for any defects
  10. Offline Optic Inspection
A further test to see if the CDs
are up to standard
  11. Label Printing
The logo is printed onto the CD
with all other artwork
